The Experience

A coastal boil-up, the Newfoundland way.

Gather

Meet your guide on the beach.

We'll meet at a scenic, easy-access spot along the Irish Loop where the Atlantic stretches out before you. Your guide shares local stories, seasonal insights, and the connection between food, fire, and coastal life in Newfoundland.

Cook

A boil up over open fire on the rocks.

Settle in beachside as we prepare a traditional boil up: fresh lobster rolls, scallops, cod or mussels, and a wild-inspired Newfoundland dessert with foraged tea. A modern take on a tradition rooted in this coast.

Linger

Eat slowly. Stay a while.

When conditions allow, the shoreline fire adds warmth and tradition to the meal. When weather doesn't, the gathering carries on uninterrupted, centered on great food, coastal views, and meaningful conversation.

Make a Day of It

Add a guided hike to your boil up.

Stay longer after the feast and walk a stretch of the East Coast Trail with your guide. The same coast you've been eating from, on foot. Whales, puffins, and seals come through this stretch.

Available alongside Wednesday boil ups only. Add to your cart at checkout below.

Good to Know

Common questions before you book.

What's your cancellation policy? +

These experiences require extensive preparation, sourcing, and planning. Because of that:

Cancel 8+ days in advance: Full refund, minus any payment processing fees.
Cancel 4–7 days in advance: 50% refund.
Cancel within 72 hours: Non-refundable.

If we need to cancel due to unsafe weather, we'll rebook you on the next available experience that fits your timeline, or you'll have the option to receive a full refund.

What should I wear and bring? +

Wear proper footwear — hiking boots if you have them. Newfoundland summer temperatures can be cooler than expected, especially by the ocean, so bring layers for moisture and wind.

We also recommend sunscreen and a hat, since there's little shade at the beach. We'll handle the food and the fire; you bring yourself, an appetite, and curiosity.

What happens if the weather is bad? +

The tour goes ahead rain or shine within reason. If conditions are unsafe, we'll reschedule and offer a credit toward a future experience.

Keep an eye on your email the day before your booking for any updates from us.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies? +

This experience is built around seafood. You can expect shellfish and fish, and allergens from these items will be present throughout.

We're unable to accommodate dietary substitutions at this time, as the boil up is a set menu built around the day's catch and seasonal ingredients. If you have questions about whether this experience is right for you, please reach out before booking.

Is this suitable for kids? +

Yes. Kids are welcome and often love the open fire, the rocks, and the chance to eat a meal cooked outdoors. Just keep in mind the terrain is uneven, and the experience runs roughly 2.5 hours.

Where exactly do we meet? +

We meet at Mobile Beach along the Irish Loop, about 35 minutes south of St. John's.

Park in the school parking lot at 8 Riverhead Road, or along Riverhead Road if the lot is full. Your guide will meet you there at your experience start time and walk you down to the beach. We'll send full directions in your booking confirmation.

Are there bathrooms on site? +

There are no public bathrooms at Mobile Beach — only "tree-cilities" once you arrive. Please use the bathroom before you head out.

The nearest public toilets are at the Orange Store / Tim Hortons in Witless Bay, about 10 minutes north of Mobile.

Do I need to sign a waiver? +

Yes. After booking, you'll receive a link to read and sign our waiver. It's a standard formality for outdoor experiences and only takes a minute.

My group is larger than 20. Can we still book? +

For groups larger than 20, get in touch about a private tour. We can often accommodate larger groups with advance notice and a custom setup.
