The Experience

A coastal hike with a forager's eye.

Walk

Set out along the East Coast Trail.

We'll meet at the Tinker's Point trailhead and walk a scenic ~4km stretch where forest meets sea. The trail follows the coast as it opens to sweeping ocean views and quiet pockets of boreal forest. Easy, undulating terrain — but real wilderness underfoot.

Notice

Eyes offshore. Eyes underfoot.

Tinker's Point sits along a known route for nesting puffin colonies and migratory whales, and in late spring it's not unusual to spot icebergs drifting down Iceberg Alley. None of it is guaranteed — but the trail puts you in the right place. While we walk, your guide will offer a gentle introduction to foraging in Newfoundland: edible plants, traditional foodways, and the small details most hikers walk right past.

Pause

Settle in for a wild-inspired mug-up.

Partway through, we'll stop for a mug-up — the Newfoundland tradition of a warm cuppa enjoyed outdoors. A wild tea we've foraged along the trail, paired with a seasonal bite. A small ceremony at the edge of the coast.

Good to Know

Common questions before you book.

What's your cancellation policy? +

These experiences require extensive preparation, sourcing, and planning. Because of that:

Cancel 8+ days in advance: Full refund, minus any payment processing fees.
Cancel 4–7 days in advance: 50% refund.
Cancel within 72 hours: Non-refundable.

If we need to cancel due to unsafe weather, we'll rebook you on the next available experience that fits your timeline, or you'll have the option to receive a full refund.

What should I wear and bring? +

Wear proper hiking footwear — boots if you have them. Trails are often muddy and wet. Newfoundland summer temperatures can be cooler than expected, especially by the ocean, so bring layers for moisture and wind.

We also recommend sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle since this is a wilderness hike. Hiking poles can be provided with advance notice — just let us know when you book.

What happens if the weather is bad? +

The experience goes ahead in most conditions, so please dress for the weather. If heavy rain, high winds, or other conditions make the trail unsafe, we'll reach out to reschedule or offer a full refund.

Keep an eye on your email the day before your booking for any updates from us.

Is this experience suitable for kids? +

Yes, for kids comfortable hiking. The trail is roughly 4km on easy but uneven terrain over 2–3 hours, so it's best suited to children who can manage that distance at a relaxed pace.

Where exactly do we meet? +

We meet at the Tinker's Point trailhead, along the East Coast Trail just south of St. John's. Parking is available right at the trailhead.

Please arrive 5 minutes before your experience start time — we leave promptly. Full directions will be included in your booking confirmation email.

Are there bathrooms on site? +

There are no public bathrooms at the trailhead — only "tree-cilities" once you're on the trail. Please use the bathroom before you head out.

The nearest public toilets are at the Orange Store / Tim Hortons in Witless Bay, a short drive north.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies? +

The mug-up includes a foraged tea and a seasonal wild bite that changes with the season. Our ability to accommodate most dietary restrictions is currently limited, given the wild-inspired and small-batch nature of what we prepare.

If you have specific concerns or allergies, please reach out before booking so we can talk it through honestly.

What about mobility needs or accessibility? +

This experience involves up to 4km of hiking on uneven terrain. Our ability to accommodate most mobility needs is currently limited, and we're actively working toward greater accessibility in the experiences we offer.
